Subject: Barter Kings

I just watched an episode of the A&E show Barter Kings.
The basic scheme of this show is that the protagonists start off with something of fairly low value, like a used condom, and keep trading up in a succession of barter deals until they end up with a Rolls Royce.
I didn't see the very beginning of today's episode, but these guys traded up and up until they had an old Chevy Nova and "bartered up" to a Big Rig tractor "worth $8500".
There is a problem though...
You see, one of the things I do is involved with Big Rig trucking. "Trading up" to an $8500 tractor is nonsense. We usually unload our junkers (with 800,000 miles & up) for $15k or more, and at that they often get parted out. An $8500 tractor would certainly get parted out.
As I saw the proud new owner of that $8500 big rig on Barter Kings today, I wondered how many days he'll get to drive it until the engine blows... ;D
I call BS on this show.
