If the cake was real and within my grasp......I'd have polished it off by now. But seeing that it is not real, everyone may have a small piece....but not TOO much. ;) :)

Hi Philip, the day was pretty ordinary because I was at work but I left work earlier than usual to come home. Got some presents this morning from wife and kids, the parents-in-law were laying in wait for me when I got home and I had some tea and cake with them. I won't be going out anywhere tonight though...just a quiet night at home.

Re your avatar ....(confession ?) .... I was initially disappointed when you switched to your current one ... as the one you originally chose .... struck me as SO friendly /nice /warm / pleasant ! However, your current one (Dr. Slump ... who I still don't recognise / have never heard of till your usage) is also one to warm to.
Says a lot about you that you changed it for the reason you did. However ... whoever that OTHER person mayb be ... I certainly can't recall coming across them . A dormant account ? ???

So do you all set your alarms for 3 am (or is that 4 am) to wake up and turn the clocks back ..and then go back to sleep for an extra hour? ;D

You don't adjust yours in Qld ? Think I 've heard something like that ?
I think you're SUPPOSED to adjust them sometime around 2am (typically) if you happen to be up ? Else you'd do it in advance the day before ... or more likely ... when you wake up that morning ?
I've often found out about it only hours before .. that we were into the 6 monthly adjustment !

This Sunday we change it again. We say spring forward, fall back. In the spring we set our clocks 'forward', in the fall, 'back'.

The clocks in the UK will forward at the end of the month.

Well, that too, but a person KNOWS it's a different time, even if they don't know how many hours...they may not know that about phrases. I'm always asking people, especialyy from other countries what they THOUGHT I said. ;D

Usually it is a 5 hour difference between London and New York, so with the US clocks forward the difference for the few weeks will be 4.

Yes, certain words and phrases that we take for granted may not be known in other countries and can create undue tensions....but sometimes it also spices it up too. :)

I was at a quiz the other night. The host wanted to know what Americans call trams.
We didn't really know this. Submitted trolly car. Since most of the other teams did the same .... he ended up 'paying' that answer. However .... the answer he was after was 'street car'.
