In the aftermath of the recent plane crash that killed several figure skaters, separately the legendary skater Dick Button, a two-time Olympic champion (1948, 1952) and five-time consecutive world champion (1948–1952), has passed away at the age of 95. :\'(

He performed the first double axel in any competition and became the first American to win the men’s event, paving the way for future champions such as Scott Hamilton, Brian Boitano and Nathan Chen. 8)

I have a pair of Dick Button ice skates. I have never used them (they aren't my size). We bought them at an auction and they were in a lot with other stuff. We tried to sell them at our booth and then at our yard sales.

I remember him (mainly as a figure skating commentator).
