Legendary songbird and pitchwoman for Florida Orange Juice, Anita Bryant, has passed away at the age of 84.  :\'(

This is apparently a late report. She actually expired in December 16th but the death was just announced yesterday.

Her commercials for Florida oranges that introduced the catchphrase “Breakfast without orange juice is like a day without sunshine”.  8)

I thought she died a long time ago.

She was on an anti-gay crusade, spewing hate. Someone hit her in the face with a fruit pie.

It's funny how pretty much everybody thought she died a long time ago. She kept well out of the spotlight in her later years. She was "cancelled" long before being cancelled was even a thing. It's also very odd that she died on December 16 and it is only now being announced.

It is difficult for those who were too young or not yet born to know how much of an uproar she caused in the late 70s. I myself do not believe in dancing on graves, so all I will say is that I hope she has now found enlightenment.

And the obit didn't mention her hateful rhetoric against gays.

Bryant became one of the first people to be publicly "pied" as part of a political protest. She had a pie thrown at her by Thom L. Higgins (1950–1994). Bryant quipped "At least it's a fruit pie".  ;D ;D ;D

The comment section is gold as well!

Well she certainly had her supporters. The legislation she promoted was passed by voters in a landslide, 69-31.
