Sad news.

Over the past few months I have been having a resurgence in my childhood interest in Peter, Paul and Mary, especially with a song he co-wrote "Puff the Magic Dragon".

Peter, Paul & Mary were an iconic group of my childhood.  Sad to say goodbye  :\'(  :\'(  :\'(

R.I.P. Peter Yarrow

A legend of the 1960s, though he transcends that. Certainly tried to do good in the world though he was occasionally pretentious about it, as activists can sometimes be. But he clearly had a good heart.

I have always loved P,P&M. I remember when I was abr 15 and I bought their 10 Years Together album. I was so excited about it and told my neighbor who was my age. She asked, "Who's Peter, Paul, & Mary?" I was shocked that she never heard of them. When I mentioned Puff, she knew that song.


I read his obit in the Washington Post and learned that he was convicted of sexual assault on a minor. He was pardoned by Jimmy Carter.

I always liked the cover art of "10 Years Together", especially that moon. There's something strangely mystical about that cover. They were breaking up when that album came out in 1970, so it was essentially intended as a cap or a period on their career. They would reunite in 1978 and remained together until the death of Mary Travers in 2009.

Yep.  Ol’ Jimmy threw him a nice bone on his way out of the Oval Office. Yarrow’s Wikipedia page contains all the sordid details; I shall not mention them here as it would likely violate the InThe00s terms and conditions.
