Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize has died at 100. He was the longest living United States president.

His Mom, “Miss Lillian” had breast cancer.

My dad & aunt both died of pancreatic cancer about 6 months apart. Their father was a doctor with a home office. He had an x-ray machine in his office. This was in the '30s-'40s when the dangers of radiation wasn't understood. My dad often told us about playing around that machine.

From the 1920s to the 1970s there were devices known as shoe-fitting fluoroscopes, also known as s X-ray Shoe Fitters, Pedoscopes and Foot-o-scopes, used in shoe stores to measure people's feet. Actually, by the 1960s these had started to die out as the hazards of radiation became more known. I don't recall ever having had one of these used on me, but in the 60s I do recall seeing old, unused ones still in shoe stores.

I knew about those machines. There was an ep of American Restoration on the History Channel where they restored one of those. First they had to get a hazmat company to take the radiation out of the machine before they could do anything. After they were done restoring it, they were able to get an x-ray of feet that they put into the machine. So if anyone looked into it, they would see the x-ray.  ;D Of course it wasn't the person's x-ray.
