Though it's likely before the time of many people here, Edwards, the iconic voice of AOL's "you've got mail!" was heard thousands of times a day in the early internet era. For uttering that immortal phrase he was paid $200.

Elwood Edwards, the voice that became synonymous with AOL's famous "You've Got Mail" notification, died at the age of 74 on Tuesday, November 5 – just one day before his 75th birthday.
