BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Former One Direction singer Liam Payne, 31, whose chart-topping British boy band generated a global following of swooning fans, was found dead Wednesday after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, local officials said.

I've seen many reports come up that he was working on a second solo album, before he got dropped by the record label. Maybe he had slipped into a depression. It's a tragic loss, especially for his 7 year old son Bear. The mother of his child, Cheryl, was a judge on the X Factor, the show that made him famous

He named his son "Bear"? And there I was complaining about the tiresome trend of last-names-as-first-names. Cooper, Beckett, Boone, Taylor, Tyler, Tucker, Logan...I guess there's a whole higher level of people naming their children after wild animals. Little Elephant (Ellie), little Platypus (Plattie), Little Marmot (Marmie), etc. :o

Some parents can name their children after almost anything these days.

My first, middle, and confirmation names are all dual-purpose names that can either be a ‘first” name or a “last” name. :)

The release of a new song by Liam Payne has been postponed after his collaborator said "it's not the time yet" and he wants to let the singer's family "mourn in peace".

I can only assume that, autopsy to be done and finished, police or authorities releasing the body, flying the body home, and organising the funeral.

Singer Liam Payne's medical cause of death has been confirmed in a UK inquest opening as "polytrauma".
The One Direction star died on 16 October after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires.
Polytrauma is a term for multiple traumatic injuries which have been sustained to a person's body and organ systems.
The hearing, which was held at Buckinghamshire Coroner's Court on 17 December, was told it may take "some time" to formally ascertain how the 31-year-old died.
