I just saw a post about this on my Facebook feed. RiP to a legend (even if he had some not-so-great moments).

Although his acts of infamy are well known, better known to me is the kind of feared competitor this perpetual all-star was as a baseball great (oh the grief he gave us Cubs fans in the early/mid '70s).

It was around this time 11 years ago when in Las Vegas I saw Pete Rose in a sports store at a casino/hotel

I just remembered something. My parents were watching a game (probably the Yankees). They kept cutting away from the game to show the game Pete was playing whenever he was up because he was about to break a record. (Can't remember what record.) He did it and I remember him standing on First Base and the crowd was going crazy.
