Mercury, a native of Picksburgh PA, played in three Super Bowls, winning two of them, and was also selected for the Pro Bowl twice.
In 1967, he finished second in the nation to O. J. Simpson of USC in rushing yards with 1,274. 8)
After his NFL run was finished in ‘76, he went on to play for The Mean Machine for several years in the 1980s. :-\\

One of my old high school chums, who used to be a broadcast sports announcer, has this awesome collection of sports memorabilia.
Soon as I heard of Mercury’s passing, I went to my buddy’s Facebook page. Sure ‘nuff, he had already posted a few pieces of Mercury-signed items from his collection. 8)
If a sports legend dies, 9 times out of 10 my buddy will have some memorabilia to display. 8) ;D
