Prolific songwriter JD Souther has set down his guitar and pen for the last time at the age of 78. :\'(

He co-wrote some of the biggest hits for the Eagles, including "Best of My Love", "Victim of Love", "Heartache Tonight", and "New Kid in Town".

He just missed making the top 10 again when the 1981 single “Her Town Too” — a duet with James Taylor. 8)

I love New Kid in Town. It reminds me of 10th grade because I was (yup you guessed it) The New Kid in Town.

I knew him best for the theme song (which he wrote) for the TV sitcom Anything But Love (1989-1992) starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Richard Lewis.  The 6-episode Season 1 theme was a vocal version which he sang, then it was changed to an instrumental version for Seasons 2 through 4.  This show is available on DVD as a "Volume One" set which includes the first 2 seasons.  They have yet to release more which makes me sad because the final episode of Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger.

R.I.P. to a great musician :(
