Popular Atlanta-area rapper Rich Homie Quan (real name, Dequantes Devontay Lamar) has passed away unexpectedly at the age of 34 of unknown causes. :\'( An autopsy is scheduled though.

Homie was one of Atlanta’s bedrock artists. Lamar grew up in DeKalb county, on Atlanta’s east side, and entered Atlanta’s evolving rap music scene in 2011 after a string of burglaries led to a stint in Georgia prison. Homie kept it real. 8) His first hit, Type of Way, on his third mixtape led to deeper connections in Atlanta’s music circles, with connections to Gucci Mane and Birdman, and ultimately to the rapper Young Thug. He also released the smash hit rap Ride Out
Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug struck gold in 2014 with the song Lifestyle, lifting both of them to the top of the charts, a place in XXL’s Freshman Class and serious success. But their musical partnership frayed shortly after that, which prosecutors believe led to a catastrophic falling-out between two factions of the Bloods street gang in Atlanta. :-\\ Among the victims in that conflict was Corey Lamar, Rich Homie Quan’s father, who was shot at a barbershop he owns by rival gang members. :o

Although the official cause of his death is yet to be announced, Quan's colleague Boosie Badazz rushed to X (formerly Twitter) with claims that he allegedly overdosed on a hard substance.

”An autopsy was performed Friday by Georgia’s Fulton County medical examiner on Quan, whose legal name is Dequantes Devontay Lamar.
“The cause and manner of death are pending the completion of laboratory studies and microscopic examination of tissue slides,” the medical examiner said.”

The test results are in. Homie died from the combined effects of fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine and promethazine. :-\\

Codeine and promethazine.. sounds like he was using purple drank.
