James made his big breaking he movie Gidget and followed that up with a few smash hit musical recordings, including Goodbye, Cruel World. He then went on to star in TJ Hooker alongside William Shatner and the lovely Heather Locklear :-*.
Darren also went on to star in several films helmed by Columbia Studios, including “The Brothers Rico,” “Operation Meatball” and “The Guns of Navarone.” 8)

I knew him best for T.J. Hooker. He joined the cast towards the end of the 2nd season as Officer Jim Corrigan, but appeared in an earlier episode as a different character. Back in the day, TV shows used to reuse actors often in bit roles thinking that we the viewers wouldn't notice lol

I'm surprised and shocked that nobody here has mentioned his most famous role, that of Dr. Tony Newman in the classic TV series "The Time Tunnel". If he had done nothing else but that he would have been legendary.
