According to his article, Patti Yasutake had T-cell lymphoma. Wow, what a way to go. It sounds like the cancer took her really quickly. The Star Trek death count now stands at 118 actors, 119 if you include her, from four of the five series. How depressing.

Star Trek is a big franchise. It started with the original series in the '60s. There are only 3 of the main characters left from that-William Shatner (Kirk), George Takei (Sulu), & Walter Koenig (Chekov). They are in their 80s & 90s.
Then there was the movies, followed by The Next Generation which started in 1987, followed by Deep Space Nine, Voyager, more movies, Enterprise, Picard, Discovery, and maybe a few more that I missed. (Yes, I am a trekkie.)
That fact is, people get old and die. People get sick and die. If that is a curse, then the whole human race is cursed-well, that is true but that is another argument.

Perhaps the cast did not take note of the phrase from Star Trek “Live long and prosper”?
