He was definitely a true icon. He lived a great long life and will truly be missed. :\'(

I remember when he made a brief cameo on the Bewitched TV series in the mid-60s. Endora threw a party for witches and (as the series called them) warlocks. Darren, of course, was the only mortal there. He sees Willie Mays and says to Samantha "you mean...he's one of...YOU???". She replies "the way he hits home runs, what else?". ;D ;D ;D
