Christopher competed on Survivor just three years after battling invasive breast cancer. "I was newly recovering from breast cancer treatment. And I had been in a 11-year relationship and my partner got consolation elsewhere during that time of the cancer," Christopher previously told EW . "So I had moved to a senior retirement community, and I was by myself, no ties, my son was grown and taking care of himself. I was reading the morning paper, and it said something in an article about CBS looking for 16 Americans to cast away on a deserted island and see who could survive for 39 days."

Well, at the age of 87 I don't think the cause really matters.

I kind of wonder whatever became of Richard Hatch?
From his Wikipedia page at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Hatch_(Survivor_contestant):
Hatch was convicted in a county district court in September 2001 with domestic assault charge one month after his former partner Glenn Boyanowski accused him of assault. Hatch said that the assault started when Boyanowski trespassed his Middletown house. Hatch was sentenced to one-year probation on September 24, 2001, and was ordered not to contact Boyanowski. He appealed his conviction and sentence, both of which were overturned in a county superior court on February 5, 2002, after two days of court hearings.
Hatch was convicted also on January 25, 2006, by jury with two counts of attempted tax evasion and one count of signing a fraudulent tax return for not paying taxes on about $1.4 million: his past Survivor winnings, his $321,000 earnings as a co-host of a Boston radio show, and $28,000 rental property. According to investigation, he hired two different accountants in 2001 and 2002 to prepare his tax returns that would have reflected his Survivor winnings. Rather than file either return, he filed a return that did not reflect the winnings. He pleaded guilty to two of those counts before the conviction. He served 51-month sentence in federal prison :o, particularly Federal Correctional Institution, Morgantown, and his release was under three-year supervision.

Funny, I remember Sonja being on longer, but I started watching the first season in the middle, and then later watched the reruns over the summer. I gradually lost interest, and I think by season 4 or 5 I was out. My TV/leisure was severely restricted beginning in 2002.
I don't think I remember every contestant, but I do remember:
Richard Hatch
Colleen Haskell
Gervace
Rudy Bisch (RIP)
Sonja (RIP)
I remember one female contestant who told another female contestant (Colleen?) "If you were drowning or needed water in the desert, I wouldn't help you" or something to that effect.
