Subject: Girl You Know It’s True… Frank Farian is Dead
Written By: LyricBoy on 01/23/24 at 7:20 am
Legendary music producer Frank Farian, who was the brains behind the hit duo Milli Vanilli, has passed away at the age of 82. :\'(
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12996067/Boney-M-founder-Frank-Farian-dead-82-heart-valve.html
Farian was instrumental in the Milli Vanilli scandal, selecting singer John Davis to sing the parts but without informing him that it would be used for lip-synching.
Farian selected Davis to sing on a project — for several times what he made for a regular singing gig — but didn’t tell him others would lip-synch his music, Davis said.
Farian had him come to the studio late at night, keeping him separate from other artists, he said.
Eventually it was discovered that the Milli Vanilli performers Rob Pilatus and Fab Morvan were just lip synching when, during a “live” performance, the dubbed-in material skipped, leaving Rob and Fab on stage lip syncing “girl you know it’s, girl you know it’s, girl you know it’s…” for what seemed like an eternity. ;D This ignited a huge cr@p storm, and they were stripped of their Grammy for GYKIT. :-Milli Vanilli certainly was unlucky. Frank, John Davis, and Rob Pilatus are all gone now, with only Fab Morvan still on our side of the grass.

Frank knew how to take advantage of his so-called "artists." He did the same thing to Boney M.

Legendary, my a**. Frank duped Vanilli fans into believing they were for real. And he ruined the lives of the three dead artists mentioned. Good riddance to bad rubbish. >:(

I'm assuming Boney M frontman (but not studio singer) Bobby Farrell.
What Farian did to/with Milli Vanilli is horrible, but I'd rather remember him for Boney M. A great group who absolutely slays.

What I never understood was how Farian was able to develop new acts after the Milli Vanilli debacle. He went on to create the groups La Bouche and No Mercy, both who had success in the mid-late 90s.
He was also behind the 80s group Far Corporation, who became the first ever act to chart with the song 'Stairway to Heaven' when their cover peaked UK #8 in 1985 and US #89 in 1986. It's actually a really good version!

Frankie (born Franz Reuther) knew what music lovers wanted. A great tune and the visuals. Who can deny the catchiness of “Girl You Know It’s True” with the awesome choreography, swinging dreads, and the cool side-shift dance move by Rob & Fab? 8)
He also founded the supergroup Far Corporation (named after the first syllable of his last name), which featured Steve Lukather, David Paich, and Bobby Kimball, brought over from Toto)
His Wikipedia page says that in all, his ventures sold 850,000,000 records. Not half bad.
