Never was a big Bobby Knight fan, unlike the entire state of Indiana. For all his antics, he was a great coach and a fine teacher. His players always graduate from IU, and raise a lot of future head coaches. As for his choking Neil Reed, there were no iPhones then, so it was never proven that he did it. But a Purdue alumnus "exposed" Knight and it snowballed from there. It was tragic that the player (Reed) killed himself. But Knight's record spoke for itself. Over 1,0000 wins at IU and Texas Tech. In the sports world, he will be sorely missed.

Neil’s Wikipedia page says he died from a heart attack.

Unlike the entire state of Indiana…
Knight's dismissal was met with outrage from students. That night, thousands of Indiana students marched from Indiana University's Assembly Hall to Brand's home, burning chancellor Myles Brand in effigy. ;D
In a March 2017 interview on The Dan Patrick Show, Knight stated that he had no interest in ever returning to Indiana. When host Dan Patrick commented that most of the administration that had fired Knight seventeen years earlier were no longer there, Knight said, "I hope they’re all dead." ;D
Knight returned to Assembly Hall at halftime of Indiana's game against Purdue on February 8, 2020, and received a rousing standing ovation. 8)

Myles Brand was the IU president who fired Knight and has since died of natural causes, I do believe.
