Richard Roundtree, who played the original Shaft just passed away. He was 81. The strange thing is I was just thinking about the theme song by Isaac Hayes today.

Sorry to hear this. A classic character. ""Shaft" was one of the earliest of the "blaxploitation" film genre and set off a wave of films to follow. I'm not sure it would fly in today's climate, but it was very of it's time. And yes, the soundtrack is a classic.
