He also had a couple of minor hits as a solo with "Somewhere Down The Crazy River" and "Showdown At Big Sky".
R.I.P., Mr. Robertson. :\'(

Good musician but he was completely full of himself. He was his biggest fan.

R.I.P. to a legend  :\'(

Somewhere Down the Crazy River was the third single from his self-titled debut album in 1987, and while it only peaked at #91 in Canada, I can tell you that it was played on the radio like it was a #1 hit.  This song is an absolute masterpiece and I still love to listen to it today!

Outside of The Band, while he never charted in the Billboard Hot 100, his greatest success in the US was as a songwriter when Rod Stewart took his 1987 song Broken Arrow to US #20 in 1991.  These were the solo hits that he had...

1988 - Showdown at Big Sky
1988 - Somewhere Down the Crazy River
1988 - Fallen Angel
1991 - What About Now
1992 - Go Back to Your Woods
1994 - Bad Intentions
1995 - Skinwalker (featuring The Red Road Ensemble)
1995 - Mahk Jchi
1995 - Ghost Dance
1998 - Take Your Partner By the Hand (with Howie B)

I was unfamiliar with this - an unusual tune.  But I like it!  O0
