Just found about this earlier today. :\'( Another Eagle gone.

Apparently he sang lead on "Take It To The Limit", one of the band's biggest hits.

Looks like he’s missed out on the Eagles’ “Long Goodbye” 2023 Farewell Tour that kicks off on September 7th.  :-\\

The surviving member of Steely Dan will be the opening act.

You mean he missed out being in the audience watching the show? He was never scheduled to be a performer. The performers on "The Long Goodbye" tour (they ain't kidding. It's about their 95th farewell tour) were always scheduled to be Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill and Deacon Frey, son of the late Glenn Frey. I'm still trying to figure out how Vince Gill got into the Eagles.

Well he could have been brought onstage as a special guest star.

Now as to the opening act, I forget if it’s Steely or if it’s Dan who is the surviving member. ???

No he couldn't have been. 1) There were personality conflicts, 2) his health was in serious decline and he was basically unable to perform at all in his later years. You always make blanket assumptions that everybody everywhere is always ready, willing and able to "have a reunion". Things don't work that way, nor should they.  ;)

Of course, you are aware that the name "Steely Dan" comes from the classic William Burroughs novel "Naked Lunch". The "Steely Dan III" was a, shall we say, "marital aid".  ;)

I learn something new every day. I always thought one guy was Steely and the other was Dan.  :-[

You're thinking of Fleetwood Mac. One guy is Fleetwood and the other is Mac. As long as it's got those two it can always be called Fleetwood Mac, because that's who it is.
