Written By: LyricBoy on 07/05/23 at 6:32 pm
Martin Stevens (real name, Roger Prud'homme), the Québécois singer who rose to prominence during the disco craze of the late '70s, died on July 5 at the age of 69. :\'(
He hit it HUGE with his disco hit, Love Is In The Air back in ‘78. 8)

This is sad news. In Canada, his version of Love is in the Air was released a few weeks before John Paul Young's original. He had heard a demo recording of JPY's version and once released, ended up charting higher (Stevens peaked at #19 and JPY peaked at #26) and received a 1979 Juno Award nomination for Best Selling Single
In 1980, he received another Juno Award nomination for Best Selling Single for a track called Midnight Music. Other than those two songs, I didn't really know him for anything else.

I love this version, for a second I thought that it sounded like John Paul Young.
