Legendary fast food franchise founder Leroy Raffel, one of the two brothers who founded the successful Arby’s empire, has passed away at the age of 96. :\'(

The first restaurant actually opened along US-224 in Boardman, Ohio. It had 10 seats and only about 20 parking spots outside. The restaurant was different from others at the time: it served only roast beef sandwiches instead of the ubiquitous hamburger. 8) The idea caught on, however, and the business quickly expanded with a number of chains throughout the U.S.
In what seemed like no time, their ubiquitous Cowboy Hat logo (I think it’s a cowboy hat ;)) was seemingly everywhere, and roast beef sandwiches became a staple of fast food. :P

When I go to Arby’s I get the roast beef sandwich… and slather it with Horsey Sauce. :P
