Maggie Peterson, the cute little actress that played Briscoe Darling's only daughter Charlene on The Andy Griffith Show, died May 15 at the age of 81. She was a TV veteran as a guest of many classic sitcoms, including Gomer Pyle and Green Acres.

Other than Opie, I think this means all the main cast members of TAGS have now departed to that great film stage in the sky. Although Maggie was only in 6 episodes.

One or two of the Darling boys are still alive. Also Ron Howard's brother who played Leon.

I think there have been three Mayberry based spin offs. Most are in their 70s or 80s so doubt they're up for it. Of course Oppie taking over the entire town is a natural storyline. ;D
