Legendary singer C.W. McCall (real name, William Dale Fries Jr.) has passed away at the age of 93 after spending a short stint in hospice care for cancer. :\'(
C.W. was all the rage during the “CB radio craze” in the late 1970s, with his novelty song Convoy. 8)

R.I.P. to CW; he had a long career :\'(
He had been married to his wife (first name: Rena, according to IMDB) since 1952 and they just celebrated their 70th anniversary a month-and-a-half ago.
I wonder what the letters C.W. stood for?

I wonder what the letters C.W. stood for?
From his Wikipedia page:
In 1973, while working as a creative director for Bozell & Jacobs, an Omaha, Nebraska advertising agency, Fries created a Clio Award-winning (1974) television advertising campaign advertising Old Home Bread for the Metz Baking Company. The advertisements featured a truck driver named C. W. McCall, who was played by Dallas, Texas, actor, Jim Finlayson.

I saw that paragraph, but it didn’t indicate what the letters stood for.
This from a Rolling Stone article:
“I wanted to name the truck driver something that would be easily remembered. A lot of the truckers wore initials on their shirts,” he told Milwaukee deejay Bob Barry. “We thought it was sort of a Country-Western sounding track, so that’s where the C.W. came from.”
