Subject: Johnny Fever Signs Off of WKRP

Written By: LyricBoy on 01/30/22 at 2:26 pm

Veteran actor Howard Hesseman, legendary for his role as Dr. Johnny Fever on the TV classic, WKRP in Cincinnati has spun his last record, at the age of 81.  :\'(. Apparently he passed due to complications from colon surgery he had done last year.  :-\\

His acting credits included “The Rockford Files,” “Laverne and Shirley,” “The Bob Newhart Show” and numerous “Saturday Night Live” hosting gigs. Additionally, Hesseman had guest starred on “Fresh Off the Boat,” “Chicago Med,” “Mike & Molly,” “Psych,” “House” and had recurring roles on “Boston Legal” and “That 70’s Show.”  8)

Howard now stands with Gordon Jump (Mr. Carlson), Allyn Ann McLerie (Carlson’s wife), Carol Bruce (Carlson’s mother), Ian Wolfe (Hirsch, Mother Carlson’s houseboy), and Frank Bonner (Herb Tarlek) as now-departed cast members of WKRPIC.

Let us also not forget Head of the Class. It's crazy to think that without that Kotteresque sitcom, we wouldn't have All That and the Nickelodeon live action empire that it built. Brian Robbins and Dan Schneider would just be two more actors trying to make a living in LA.

Or Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman where he played the role of Dr. Robert Williams.  8)

There's a remake of Head Of The Class, that recently got cancelled.  I had always hoped Hesseman would be in an episode, but Robin Givens was in one playing her same character.

I loved Howard Hesseman in whatever he did, including One Day At A Time and the film Police Academy 2. R.I.P.

This is truly heartbreaking. I've watch almost all the episodes of WKRP in Cincinnati, and Johnny Fever always puts a smile on my face. RIP, Howard. :\'(
