Subject: Sidney Poitier, Oscar-winning actor dies at 94

Sidney Poitier, whose elegant bearing and principled onscreen characters made him Hollywood's first Black movie star and the first Black man to win the best actor Oscar, has died. He was 94.
Clint Watson, press secretary for the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, confirmed to CNN that Poitier died Thursday evening.

My introduction to Sidney Poitier was the movie For The Love Of Ivy that I saw at the theatre way back in the dark ages.

It was last Friday around 1pm, I was channel hopping on the television and I caught the last ten minutes of "Lilies of the Field" his Oscar winning performance, and is this film is on my must-see list. It was around 6pm, when I heard the sad news.
