The Powder Monkeys burst in the punk scene in 1991 with their first album, Smashed on a Knee, distributed by Dog Meat Records. In ‘95 they toured with Henry Rollins and released their next hit, The Supernova That Never Quits, the first release of their album Time Wounds all Heels. They spent most of 1997 in hiatus and re-emerged in August 1997 with a single, "Get the Girl Straight", but alas it only sold 400 copies.
But the Powder Monkeys’ reign atop the Aussie punk scene were cut short in 2003, when cofounder Tim Hemensley passed away from a heroin overdose; this came two years after Nolan nearly succumbed to a heroin-induced heart attack and suffered motor skill impairment. :-\\
Their final album was a posthumous release titled Outta Control Rock'n'Roll distributed by Dropkick Records. It yielded the fan favorite Cock in My Pocket which the band had played during all of its live shows during its heyday years. 8)
