He'd been in poor health for years. His other best known song was "Alone Again Naturally," which used an uncleared sample of the Gilbert O'Sullivan hit. And now every sample has to be cleared.

I'll admit I knew him for his cover of "Energy Blues" from the Schoolhouse Rock Rocks album long before I heard his real music.

Back when Just a Friend was a big hit, there was a TV station in Picksburgh where you could call in, and for like $1.50, they’d play the video of whatever song you wanted.
JAF was running nearly nonstop for like a month and a half. ;D
