He was amazing in All the President's Men as Deep Throat, and great as Father Malone in John Carpenter's The Fog. Other notable credits include Magnum Force, Lincoln (both the 1974-1976 miniseries and the 2012 Spielberg film), Midway (1976), Creepshow, Wall Street, Fletch Lives, The Firm, Evening Shade, Perry Mason TV movies, Becker, and The West Wing.

He died January 23rd. RIP.

Perhaps his finest role was as Lieutenant Briggs in the movie classic Magnum Force. In the movie’s climax, his police car exploded due to a device placed in it by Detective Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood).  8)

Hal was the widower of Diff’rent Strokes actress Dixie Carter.

So he died 10 days ago and we're just now hearing about it? Interesting.

Strangely enough, I thought he died years ago. He was well known for his one man Mark Twain show.
