Written By: LyricBoy on 01/03/21 at 3:20 pm
Legendary singer Gerry Marsden, namesake of 1960s British group, Gerry and the Pacemakers, has passed away at the age of 78. :\'(. Fortunately it was not Covid-19 that got him. Instead he passed from a heart infection. :-\\

Perhaps GATPM’s biggest hit was Ferry Cross the Mersey, released in 1965.

Gerry and the Pacemakers were the first group to go straight to number one with their first three single releases - How Do You Do It? I Like It and You’ll Never Walk Alone. This last song also charted in 1989 as a charity single to raise funds for the survivors of the Hillsborough disaster

Fellow Pacemakers Les Chadwick (d. 2019) and Freddie Marsden (d. 2006) are also no longer with us. :-\\
