Legendary country/folk songwriter, performer, and gonzo musician Jerry Jeff Jones (birth name Ronald Clyde Crosby) has passed away at the age of 78. :\'(

He is known most notably for penning the iconic song “Mr. Bojangles”, a tune inspired by a short stint he did in a New Orleans jail with an itinerant dancer. 8)

I am sorry to hear this! He got lots of airplay on the "underground" FM stations I used to listen to in the early 70s. And in the 60s he was in a band called Circus Maximus that had a very psychedelic song called "The Wind" that got lots of FM play.

I mostly know him for writing Mr. Bojangles, but knew he was a popular Country star. Sad to say goodbye :\'( :\'( :\'(

This is one of his I always liked. a lot. The production is so spacy. One commenter once said the steel guitar sounded like it was recorded under water, but he meant it as a compliment.
