Subject: Spencer Davis, one of rock's elder statesmen, dies aged 81
Written By: Philip Eno on 10/20/20 at 1:04 pm
Spencer Davis, one of the key figures of the 1960s beat scene, has died at the age of 81. The Welsh guitarist was the driving force behind The Spencer Davis Group, who scored transatlantic hits with Keep On Running and Somebody Help Me. The band, which also featured a teenage Stevie Winwood, toured with The Who and The Rolling Stones in the 60s. Davis died in hospital on Monday, while being treated for pneumonia, his agent told the BBC. "He was a very good friend," said Bob Birk, who had worked with the musician for more than 30 years. "He was a highly ethical, very talented, good-hearted, extremely intelligent, generous man. He will be missed."

I know "Feelin' Alright" (and the Joe Cocker cover) and maybe "I'm a Man." Huge loss for rock history.
Edit: I was thinking of Steve Winwood's other band, Traffic. :-[

"Gimme Some Lovin" is the only song I really know from his band.
You may also recognize the song I'm a Man. It's been used in many ads and films over the years

Oh yes, I know that one as well! I had forgotten about it while making my post earlier. My bad.
Thanks for reminding me. O0

Born Spencer David Nelson Davies.
Spencer David Nelson Davies was born on July 17, 1939, in Swansea, Wales. He later dropped the “e” in his surname because “Davies” is pronounced “Davis” in Britain but “Daveys” in the United States, where he hoped to expand his career.
