Prolific metal rock producer and engineer Martin Birch has passed away at the age of 71. :\'(

Anybody who was anybody in metal or hair genres wanted Birch to produce their work. He produced Fleetwood Mac from ‘68 to ‘73, Deep Purple from ‘69 thru ‘77, including their major oeuvre, Made In Japan. 8)
Two albums for Black Sabbath. Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow from ‘75 thru ‘86. Whitesnake from ‘78 thru ‘84, including their legendary album, Slide it In.
Iron Maiden from ‘81 to ‘92. Two albums for the Blue Õyster Cult, including Cultōsaurus Erectus.
Just to name a few. Dude was a monster engineer and producer. With his resume, one may wonder if he had any hearing left. ;D
