Longtime influential New York mobster John “Sonny” Franzese has passed away at the age of 103. :\'(. There has been no word as to why he passed away other than he had some sort of infection. :-\\

Sonny was Old School. In 1967 he was sent up the river on a 50 year stint, but was then paroled in 1978. He then went on to be re-imprisoned six times due to parole violations against the initial rap. In 2010, at the age of 93 he was still out there running his hustle :o and he was sent to prison in new charges, after his son ratted him out and wore a wire. When Sonny was let out of the slam in 2017, he was 100 years old 8) and the oldest inmate in the federal prison system.
Often reputed to have been responsible for dozens of gangland murders, he was never convicted of such.
Not your run of the mill gangster, Sonny also helped finance the $22,000 budget of the 1972 pornographic film Deep Throat, which generated $30–50 million dollars, and the 1974 slasher film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, which earned over $30 million from a $80,000–140,000 investment 8)

Sonny was probably one of the last of a breed. On multiple occasions he was offered a reduction in jail sentence if he’d rat out other gangsters. But he kept his mouth shut. That’s gangster.
These days, “Omertà” is dead, and gangsters regularly testify against each other.
