Dude, that's the wrong guy. You must be thinking of William H. Macy, who is still very much alive.
Bill Macy is the person who recently passed on. (And according to his bio, that was a stage name. His given name apparently was 'Wolf.') He will be missed. :\'(

I was going to say that too, it was William H. that won an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Fargo.
