Legendary Boston Celtics basketballer John “Hondo” Havlicek has passed away at the age of 79 due to complications of Parkinsons Syndrome.

Hondo was a member of the Celtics team that won eight NBA championships 8), and he was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the young age of 44. There was pandemonium and joy in Cooperstown on that day.
Hondo was also a classmate of baseball Hall of Famer Phil Niekro, both hailing from the small Ohio town of Martins Ferry.
After retiring from basketball in 1979, he did not need to work a conventional job, because he had shrewdly invested his basketball earnings in the Wendy’s burger chain, which turned out to be a real winner for him. 8)
