Legendary and versatile actress Verna Bloom, who starred in fare as diverse as Animal House (as an occasionally faithful wife to Dean Vernon Wormer) and High Plains Drifter (as a married woman with whom Clint Eastwood nevertheless did as he pleased) has passed away at the age of 80, from complications of dementia. :\'(

She was also good in a brief role in After Hours.
