She was born on May 2, 1901 in Japan's Kansai area.
According to Daily Mail, she died only days after submitting evidence that she is the oldest living woman in the world to the Guinness World Records.

Yep, this is a disturbing pattern. Almost every time we read about a new "world's oldest person" we soon hear that they have passed on. :-\\

The oldest living person is now Kane Tanaka of Japan, who was born on January 2, 1903.
