He had been battling Alzheimer's and retired, so this does not surprise me, unfortunately.
He recorded some of the greatest country songs ever, even though he rarely had anything to do with the songwritinmg.

Just heard about this on the way home from work.
I knew he'd been terminally ill... now he's gone. :\'( R.I.P to a country/pop legend.

This is really sad, since my dad also has Alzheimer's and was a big Glen Campbell fan during the sixties. RIP, Glen. :\'(

Glen was quite versatile with his songs. I have a Christmas cd with him singing 'The Christmas Song (chestnuts roasting etc) and 'have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' ... he sounds great singing them. He interpreted Jimmy Webb's songs the best. ... and what a guitar player! One of the first cross over artists too.
Even though this has been coming for years ... He will be missed.
