Subject: Don Rickles Quips His Last Zinger
Written By: Indy Gent on 04/06/17 at 1:49 pm
Comedian Don Rickles, best known as the greatest insult comedian, died of kidney failure. He was 90. His nickname was the Merchant Of Venom. He was known for his zingers on Dean Martin's Roasts and had his own variety show in the early 70s. His latest known credit was co-host of TV Goofs and Blunders with Steve Lawrence in the 80s. RIP, Don, you hockey puck. :\'(

Man, this sux. My favorite Don Rickles role was as the floor manager and Lefty Rosenthal's sidekick in the 1995 movie Casino.
RIP Mr. Rickles. :\'(. Thanks for the laughs. :)

Well, I guess Dean Martin can officially begin the first Celebrity Roast that Heaven's ever seen. I certainly salute Mr. Warmth for never bowing to the censorship movement called 'Political Correctness'. Does anyone know where Mr. Potato Head will finally be planted? My thoughts tonight will be with his families, both by blood and by film.

Well, on the brightside, he at least got to enjoy a nice full life longer than most people are lucky to have. I just hope this doesn't interfere too badly with the production of Toy Story 4. I honestly always felt Pixar was lucky to have Don Rickles still be alive to make it this far into the Toy Story franchise, but now that he's gone well before the next movie's release, I'm guessing they'll have to make Mr. Potato Head a smaller part in the movie and rewrite the script so that most of the lines Rickles missed will be spoken by other characters.
Nevertheless, farewell, Don Rickles. Even though I wasn't around to see much of him during his prime as a comedian, Mr. Potato head was undoubetdly an integral part of my favorite animated movie of all time.

My little brother got married in Las Vegas about 10 years ago, and through incredible good fortune Don Rickles just happened to be performing in town at the same time my family and I were going to be there. It was totally worth it. Even though he was in his 80's at the time, Rickles was still just as full of piss and vinegar as he'd always been.
I also loved the rapport that Rickles had with Johnny Carson. They really played well off each other:

The good Doctor Brown is 100% right. I have no doubt that Dean Martin and Foster Brooks and Johnny Carson and the rest of the gang are up in heaven right now breaking Rickles' balls.
R.I.P. Mr. Warmth. Although I should be sad at your passing, I can't help but smile when I think about you.
