Country music Hall-of-Famer Merle Haggard, whose long career included 38 #1 Country hits, has passed away. He was 79 years old, exactly.

When I was in the AF & stationed in Texas, one guy I worked with was from Bakersfield, CA. He told us that Merle Haggard was also from Bakersfield (well, at least he lived there at one time). He also told us that one time Merle had a horse that drowned on his property. Another co-worker than said, "Merle Haggard's next hit, 'My Horse Swims Like a Rock'."
So now, every time I hear Merle Haggard's name, I can't help but think of "My Horse Swims Like a Rock."

My favorite Merle Haggard song was the theme song from the hit show, "Movin On". 8)

I hate to read that, especially on his birthday. Other people who did include Ingrid Bergman and William Shakespeare. So sad. :\'(
