Record producer Sir George Martin, known as the "fifth Beatle", has died, aged 90.
His family thanked "everyone for their thoughts, prayers and messages of support" after his death at home on Tuesday, his manager said.
Beatles drummer Ringo Starr broke the news on Twitter and led tributes, saying Sir George "will be missed".
In a career spanning five decades, Sir George signed the Beatles and produced more than 700 records.
He also worked with artists including Peter Sellers, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Shirley Bassey and Cilla Black.

I just saw it on Inside Edition while waiting for Jeopardy! to come on in a half hour.

The funeral of Sir George Martin, the Beatles producer who died last week at the age of 90, has taken place. His manager confirmed a private ceremony was held on Monday. Sir George signed the Beatles and produced more than 700 records, also working with artists including Gerry and the Pacemakers, Dame Shirley Bassey and Cilla Black. Sir Paul McCartney led tributes to Sir George, describing him as the "fifth Beatle" and like his "second father".
