Subject: Big band leader James Last dies at 86
Written By: Philip Eno on 06/10/15 at 5:03 am
Big band leader James Last has died in Florida, aged 86.
The German-born musician's manager said he died at his home "peacefully and in the presence of his family".
Last sold millions of records with his trademark "happy music" and was a regular fixture on British TV for many years.
He appeared at the Royal Albert Hall in the spring as part of a farewell tour he announced after becoming seriously ill last year.
The BBC spoke to him as he performed his final British shows.

Probably one of the best known pieces by James Last, "Happy Music".

Sad news.. :\'( ..but not completely unexpected.
Although he sold millions of records with his trademark "happy music", his biggest hits in the Netherlands were not exactly that:
James Last & Georghe Zamfir - Einsamer Hirte (Theme from "Golden Soak")
(1979 - NL #5)

James Last - Biscaya (1982 - NL #5)
