I just saw on the news that the last surviving member of the legendary punk group The Ramones, tommy Ramone, just passed away.
I had always hoped to see a new lineup with the band. :-\\
RIP Tommy...

And now only a few members remain.
All the original Ramones are gone.
Dee Dee Ramone (Doug Colvin) overdosed in '02
Joey Ramone (Jeffrey Hyman) died of cancer in '01
Johnny Ramone (John Cummings) died of cancer in '04
Marky, Richie, Elvis, and CJ are still with us, but they were not original members and the last three could be considered hired hands.

It remains licensed to the record company, I think. Maybe the surviving families could buy it and sell it to the highest bidder to pay off back taxes or something.

A young quartet of punks who want to revive Rock & Roll in its original glory. Popular music, with its talentless skirt-chasers(Robin Thicke), rat-pack wannabes(Michael Buble), annoyingly repetitive R&B derivatives(Pharell Williams), tabloid freakshows(Lady Gaga), and half-naked jailbait girls(Nicki Minaj), is so ridiculous that it needs a swift kick in the butt like The Ramones gave with punk when disco overstayed its welcome.
Still, I doubt that there will ever be band as innovatively minimalist as Johnny, Tommy, Deedee, & Joey. Just as there will never be another Beatles, Beach Boys, Rolling Stones, or Eagles, we'll probably never hear ANOTHER Ramones. So, with Tommy gone, we must say to them all, Adios Amigos!
