Subject: 'Nazi art' hoarder Cornelius Gurlitt dies at 81
Written By: Philip Eno on 05/06/14 at 10:21 am
An art hoarder who was found with 1,400 works of art - including many looted by the Nazis - in his Munich apartment, has died.
Two years ago he was found to have a hidden, priceless collection including works by Picasso, Chagall and Matisse.
Cornelius Gurlitt was the son of Adolf Hitler's art dealer Hildebrand Gurlitt. It is thought many of the paintings were stolen from the Nazis' victims.
Mr Gurlitt, 81, had been seriously ill following major heart surgery.
Last month, Mr Gurlitt reached a deal with the German authorities - he said he would co-operate with authorities to determine which of the paintings were stolen by Nazis during World War Two.
Those which could be shown to have been stolen, he would return; the rest, he would keep.

So..who gets the artwork now?
Probably next of kin. If not I suppose it may be donated to a museum by his estate.
