I am so saddened by this. He is the TV father I wish I had in real life.
I have no other details yet as to the cause of death.

This is very sad news. I grew up a big fan of The Waltons and now a fan of Bones in which he played Hank Booth (Seeley's grandpa) R.I.P Ralph :\'(

I loved him on 'The Waltons'. I also liked him in the movie 'Cliffhanger'. RIP to a very talented actor :(

I was always embarrassed by the fact that I liked the Walnuts Waltons. The show was kind of sappy but I still liked it. I actually got into them when the show was in syndication in the '80s. I was working swings and the show was on in the morning before I headed out to work. Oh, and when I was in Basic Training, not one night went by where someone DIDN'T say good-night to John-Boy. :D ;D ;D ;D

I'm literally crying. I watch the Waltons all the time, and John Walton always inspired me and I loved him so much. I keep saying I gotta quit coming to Celebrity Heaven. :\'(

We fans of NCIS are still waiting to see how the show will deal with this. It's no small task to be certain that the man who played Jethro Gibbs's Dad is sent off with respect and honor.
