Tom played the accordion and Jack was an accomplished piano player
Jack Alexander of the enduring musical act The Alexander brothers has died.
A statement from Ayrshire Hospice said the 78 year old died peacefully at 13:40 with his family around him.
Jack and his 79-year-old brother Tom started their professional career at Webster Theatre in Arbroath in 1958.
The pair, from Cambusnethan in North Lanarkshire, toured all over the world during a career spanning more than 50 years and were awarded MBEs for services to entertainment.
The family have asked for privacy at this time.
The brothers were both classically trained and played from a young age, with Jack on the piano and Tom on the accordion.
They developed their Scottish style after someone suggested they follow the style of popular acts like Andy Stewart and the Joe Gordon Folk Four.
