Subject: Marcia Wallace dies at 70 (actress from 'The Simpsons' & 'The Bob Newhart Show)

Marcia Wallace -- who voiced Edna Krabappel on "The Simpsons" -- died last night in Los Angeles ... TMZ has learned.
Marcia's caregiver tells us ... the actress passed away at home with her family by her side. We're told she had been sick for the past few months ... but the caregiver couldn't go into specifics.
Wallace, who was also a breast cancer survivor for 28 years, has died at age 70, according to the showrunner of The Simpsons. “I was tremendously saddened to learn this morning of the passing of the brilliant and gracious Marcia Wallace,” producer Al Jean said in a statement to EW. “She was beloved by all at The Simpsons and we intend to retire her irreplaceable character.”

I know she voiced Edna Krabappel, Bart's school teacher, on the Simpsons (in addition to other acting roles on other TV shows).
In addition, she was a semi-regular panelist on "Match Game", both in the original long-running classic version hosted by Gene Rayburn, and in the short-lived early 90's revival.
She will be missed. :\'(

I'm surprised nobody made mention of her performance as Bob Newhart's secretary on the first "Bob Newhart Show" of the 1970's. :-\\
I had a secretary of my own in the 1980's who reminded me of Marcia. :)

Is it weird that the first thing I think of is Mrs. Carruthers on Full House? I also remember her as a frequent panelist on Super Password in the 80s. She was a great actress and I can't even think of a thing she was in that I did not enjoy.
