That is very sad news, I use to enjoy his show with Gene Siskel. May they both R.I.P :\'(

Ebert was very sick since 2002. I'm sad to see him go, but I hope he's enjoying the big Sneak Preview in the sky.

Both were my favorite critics. I always watched their review show "'At The Movies", may they rest in peace. :\'(

Ebert seemed like a pretty cool guy.
In one of my all-time favorite wins:
...Los Angeles Time writer Patrick Goldstein made a joke about Rob Schneider's Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, "a film that was sadly overlooked at Oscar time because apparently nobody had the foresight to invent a category for Best Running Penis Joke Delivered by a Third-Rate Comic." Schneider, in a response that ran as a trade paper ad, wrote: "Well, Mr. Goldstein, I decided to do some research to find out what awards you have won. I went online and found that you have won nothing. Absolutely nothing. No journalistic awards of any kind. . . . Maybe you didn't win a Pulitzer Prize because they haven't invented a category for Best Third-Rate, Unfunny Pompous Reporter Who's Never Been Acknowledged by His Peers...." Ebert's take on this exchange: "Schneider is correct, and Patrick Goldstein has not yet won a Pulitzer Prize.... As chance would have it, I have won the Pulitzer Prize, and so I am qualified. Speaking in my official capacity as a Pulitzer Prize winner, Mr. Schneider, your movie sucks." ;D
(Even the butts of Roger's "buts" understand that there's nothing personal in his negative reviews — as indicated by a comment Roger made last year on his website: "A bouquet arrives... A beautiful bouquet of flowers was delivered to the house the other day. A handwritten note paid compliments to my work and wished me a speedy recovery. Who was it from? A friend? A colleague? An old classmate? The card was signed, 'Your Least Favorite Movie Star, Rob Schneider.'")

Plus, Roger Ebert co-wrote (with long-time friend Russ Meyer) Beyond The Valley of the Dolls, which is one of the greatest bad movies of all time.
R.I.P. Roger, you were one of the great ones. :(

Here's a classic Ebert thumbs-down story, as documented at buzzfeed.com
http://www.buzzfeed.com/stevekandell/roger-ebert-and-vincent-gallos-war-of-words
When Vincent Gallo's film The Brown Bunny played at Cannes in 2003, Roger Ebert walked out of the screening and called it the worst movie ever to play the festival. (He later recanted, somewhat, saying that wasn't a fair criticism because he hadn't actually seen every movie that ever played Cannes.)
Gallo called Ebert a "fat pig with the physique of a slave trader" and, for good measure, wished for Ebert to get colon cancer.
Ebert responded by saying "Watching my own colonoscopy was more entertaining than The Brown Bunny", and that "Someday I will be thin, but Vincent Gallo will always be the director of The Brown Bunny." ;D ;D

This made me laugh. It's like your movie still sucks, but let me soften the blow lol
